Ole Miss soccer team blanked the Long Beach State 49ers 3-0 on the pitch at Westcott Field in Dallas, Texas on Thursday afternoon.

Ole Miss (6-1) jumped out to an early advantage in the second minute of action as Sophie Dineen found Haleigh Stackpole for the first goal of the day.

The Rebels sophomore goalie Ashley Orkus preserved the shut out in the match as she kept the ball from finding the back of the net. A screaming shot from LBSU’s Kayla Cannon seemed destined for top bins but Orkus layed out to get a hand on it, deflecting the ball onto the crossbar and out.

Both teams created a few half chances with the remaining time in the half but neither could fully break down the other’s defense, sending the match into the break with the Rebels up 1-0.

Ole Miss went up 2-0 in the match seven minutes into the start of the second half off the foot of Channing Foster. Foster has scored six goals on the year.

In the 72 minute, the Rebels secured the match as senior Julia Phillips placed a header in the right corner of the goal.

The Rebels return home Sunday as they take on South Alabama at 1 p.m. at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium.
