Fall is around the corner and evident in local stores where Halloween and fall decorations adorn the shelves.

However, Mother Nature has other plans for north Mississippi this week – at least for a few days when summer-like temperatures return.

Today will be hot and dry with temperatures in the 90s and very few clouds to provide shade. The heat index values will range from 96 to 102 degrees.

Temperatures will climb a bit higher over the next couple of days with the high for Tuesday and Wednesday expected to hit about 96 degrees with the lows around 70 degrees.

On Thursday, the expected temperatures are expected to drop more than 10 degrees as a cold front makes its way into the area. The high for Thursday should hit about 87 and Friday it’s expected to be around 81 degrees.

Saturday is expected to be sunny with a high of 88 degrees. There is currently a slight chance of rain for Sunday with the high expected to be around 87 degrees.

No rain is currently in the forecast for the entire week until Sunday.
