Annual Christmas Parade Draws Large Crowds

Photos by Mike Stanton
A large crowd of people lined the streets of Oxford on Monday night for the annual Christmas parade.  The Lion’s Club presented the moving Yuletide spectacle that ran from Midtown Shopping Center to the Gertrude Ford Center parking lot with this year’s theme being Christmas Peace.
The weather was unseasonably warm for a December parade, but the floats, marching bands, Christmas red fire engines and other parade participants ––from dogs to costumed characters to beauty queens –– added all the sites and sounds of Christmas, culminating with the arrival of old Saint Nick.
Documentary photographer Mike Stanton was on hand to capture these images of the parade, the crowds and the festive moments that make the Christmas parade the best small town parade in America.
