GOOD OLD BOY

Willie Morris’s writings deal with his personal experiences in the the South. His best known pieces of literature include North Toward Home, Yazoo, Good Old Boy, My Dog Skip and The Last of the Southern Girls.

Morris grew up in Yazoo City, Mississippi. And after years of living in Texas, London and New York, Morris returned to Mississippi to be writer-in-residence at Ole Miss, where he encouraged the next generation of Mississippi writers, including John Grisham, who acknowledged auditing Morris’s writing classes.

Good Old Boy: A Delta Boyhood is a novel for young readers about a boy’s adventures growing up in post-WWII Mississippi. The book was adapted for public television by Disney and PBS Wonderworks.
