The Department of Nutrition and Hospitality Management (NHM) celebrated 100 years of academic service at The University of Mississippi on Thursday. Dr. Velmer Burton, Dean of the School of Applied Sciences, which includes the Department of Nutrition and Hospitality Management, welcomed students, faculty and guests at a reception held at the Inn at Ole Miss.
Dr. Jeanette Phillips, long time professor in the program, now retired, was recognized for outstanding contributions to the program. Dr. Phillips is also responsible for location of the multi-million dollar Food Service Management Institute which serves public schools nation-wide from facilities located at Ole Miss.
Dr. Kathy Knight, associate professor and interim chair of NHM, presented the award for distinguished service to Dr. Phillips.
