Chancellor's House Hotel Construction Begins Soon

Chancellor's House HotelConstruction of the Chancellor’s House Hotel will begin as soon as demolition ends on the former Checker’s building, at the Four Corners intersection downtown, where University Avenue and South Lamar Boulevard cross.
The new boutique hotel will house 31 suites, according to developer Tom Stone, a University of Mississippi graduate. The building’s ballroom will be designed as one room that’s divisible into two smaller rooms, and will be able to accommodate up to 160 people seated for dinner, Stone said.

“We’re going to have a full kitchen, so we can provide room service, breakfast and formal teas every day,” Stone said. The ballroom space will be available for weddings, receptions and private meetings.
Stone does not plan to include a restaurant in the hotel.
“It would be silly to operate a full-blown restaurant when Oxford has some of the best restaurants in the South,” he said.
Construction will be complete in about a year. Parking will be located underground.
