Mayor Pat: City Sending Aid to Tupelo After Tornado

Mayor Pat Patterson sent the following message concerning tornado relief for the citizens of Tupelo, Miss. Any further updates from the City of Oxford will be added to this post.
[quote]Tupelo has asked for help. A tornado of some magnitude has hit near Barnes Crossing Mall, destroying Outback, Vanelli’s, homes in the neighborhood and damaging other businesses as well. Injuries are unknown at this time. I have authorized Chief Sallis to send 12 men and both of our heavy rescue trailers along with any other equipment he thinks needed. They will leave ASAP. Jimmy Allgood will go with the equipment and David Shaw will cover for us in the unlikely event of a local problem. We will figure out costs later. I will keep you posted as I am informed.
