VIDEO >> Coach Hill Discusses 2014 Oxford Chargers

It’s early August and the sound of pads crunching in the summer heat signifies fall is on the way and football preparation — at all levels — is kicking into high gear.
The Oxford High School Chargers, who were one game away from a state championship last year, began their full-pads workouts Aug. 7.
The Chargers remarkable run last season was blemished by only one loss, a 5A State Finals defeat at the hands of offensive coordinator Bret Farve and Picayune by the score of 42-35.
Coming into the 2014 season, Coach Johnny Hill and his staff have to replace pretty much the whole offensive line, with the exception of an experienced starting center. This group will protect highly regarded junior quarterback Jack Abraham.
Abraham ended his sophomore season putting up bug numbers — 3,572 passing yards with 38 touchdown passes.
Coach Hill talked to HottyToddy.com about fall camp and what his expectations are this year for the Chargers in the video below.

Most all of the returning offensive line is juniors with no seniors.
A real battle is brewing right now for the four open spots open on the “O” line and the coaching staff has five or six players vying for those positions.
The coaching staff feels good about the Charger’s linebacking corps and secondary going into the season.
With all the new faces in the Oxford lineup, Coach Hill says it will take time for the team to gel and build its personality.. “Every team has its on personality from the pervious one,” he said. “It doesn’t happen on the practice field, but out there during a ball game.”
HottyToddy.com sat down with coach Hill a week out from the Chargers annual Jamboree. In this year’s Jamboree the Chargers will take on the South Panola Tigers on Friday night which will be a real good test for OHS before the season starts.
That is the reason the coaching staff set up the competition in the Jamboree because who they will be playing is really good stated Hill.
It also is a way for the Chargers to get a half of football under their belt before the real season begins the following week down at Jackson Prep.
