The Ole Miss athletics department and the University of Mississippi music department are looking for national anthem performers during an open audition Friday, Sept. 19. The auditions will be held from 3-5 p.m. in the Nutt Auditorium on University Avenue, across from the Gertrude Ford Center for Performing Arts.
Ole Miss faculty, staff and students, along with the general public, may take part in the auditions. Solo performances, ensemble and collaborative auditions are encouraged to participate.
The selected individual or group will perform the anthem at various athletic events on campus – with the exception of football games. Electronic submissions will not be accepted in lieu of this live audition and this date is the only audition time available for this opportunity.
“We are excited to once again partner with the music department this year and offer these auditions,” said Jason List, assistant athletics director for marketing and fan experience. “Having the Ole Miss family and community get involved with gameday is a continual effort for us and the national anthem provides a perfect opportunity.”
Auditions may be either vocal or instrumental. All vocal auditions must be performed acappella and each performance must be under 90 seconds in length.
For further information or questions, contact the athletics marketing department at sportsmarketing@olemiss.edu.
