Where to Watch the Ole Miss-Boise State Game in Oxford
If you can’t get to Atlanta for the Ole Miss opener, HottyToddy.com has prepared a cheat sheet of the best spots in Oxford for watching the Rebels beat Boise State.
1. The Grove
Cost: No cover
Start Time: 5 p.m.
Reason to go: There’s nothing like game day in the Grove! Tents have to be set up behind the Walk of Champions, but you can watch all the action on a giant LED screen. All Grove rules apply.
“No better place to watch than in The Grove. If we can’t have the game in Oxford, might as well act like we are,“ said Bradley Baker, director of the Ole Miss Student Union.
2. Proud Larry’s
Cost: No cover
Start Time: At 7 p.m. it’s “Yalobusha Tap Take Over” – buy two pints, and you get to keep the glass. The owner and brew master of Yalobusha Brewing Co. is coming by to talk about their beer.
Reason to go: Who wouldn’t want to watch the game at one of Travel and Leisure’s “America’s Best College Bars.” If that’s not enough, specials include 25 percent off appetizers and a chance to sample their new hot wings.
3. The Lyric
Cost: No cover
Start Time: 6 p.m.
Reason to go: Come watch the first game of the season on the biggest screen in town — a 26-footer! Specials include $3 tall boys, $4 drafts. Food by Oxford Canteen, featuring 2 tacos for $6 — yum!
4. Funky’s
Cost: No cover
Start Time: Rebel Kick off Party begins at noon
Reason to go: Food and drink specials from noon till 5 p.m. — $10 large pizzas and $4 daiquiris.
So, even if you were heartbroken by the news about your professor’s zero absence attendance policy, no need to drop the class to enjoy the Rebels’ first game!
