Oxford Daily Crime Report for Monday, Oct. 20

Oxford police has made two arrests yesterday based on crimes that occurred last Friday, Oct. 17th.
Robert Pickett – Shoplifting

On Friday, October 17th, 2014, Oxford police officers arrested Robert Pickett of Jackson, MS for felony shoplifting. This was a result from a call at Walmart that he shoplifted and fled the scene. Walmart gave the police a description of the vehicle. Officers then stopped the vehicle and made the arrest. He has been charged and bond was set at $5,000.
Gary Welch – Shoplifting

On Friday, October 17th, 2014, Oxford police officers arrested Gary Welch of Jackson, MS for felony shoplifting. This was a result from a call at Walmart that he too shoplifted and fled the scene. With a description of the vehicle, officers then stopped the vehicle and made the arrest. He has been charged and bond was revoked.
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: four alarms, four simple assaults, three suspicious activities, a disturbance, a lost property, an animal assist, a misdialed 911 call, a shoplifting, a motorist assist, an ambulance assist, a petit larceny, and an auto-burglary at 200 Sisk.
Oxford police investigated six wrecks, issued five traffic citations and made four arrests on the following charges: a careless driver with a suspended license and a DUI, a speeding with no car insurance and a DUI, and (2) warrants served.
Oxford police discovered three code violations per neighborhood ordinance.
University police responded to the following incidents: a disturbance at Brown Hall, a harassment at Stewart Hall, a vandalism at Anderson Hall, a larceny at Intercollegiate Athletics, a petit larceny at University Circle, and a grand larceny of more than $500 at University Avenue.
Oxford Fire Dept. responded to the following calls: a cancelled call at 735 Windsor Falls North, a smoke detector activated by a dryer vent at Minor Hall West, and an assistance call at First Baptist Church.
