Alan Nunnelee

Family members of Mississippi congressman Alan Nunnelee have announced the politician has died today at the age of 56. A statement from his family reads:

“Congressman Alan Nunnelee has gone home to be with Jesus. He was well loved and will be greatly missed.”

Nunnelee underwent surgery to remove a mass from his brain last May. After the discovery of a new, untreatable brain tumor last month, he was moved into hospice care at his home. The Tupelo native has served Mississippians in Washington since 1995.
