Shadows of Liberty to Screen at Off Square Books

Shadows of Liberty

The Square Books will have a free screening of Shadows of Liberty next Saturday at 5 p.m.

The documentary shares insight on censorship, cover-ups and corporate control of news media. Its stories include recognized journalists, academic faces and activists: Danny Glover, Julian Assange, Dan Rather, Amy Goodman, David Simon, Norman Solomon, Bob Bear, Roberta Baskin, John MacArthur, Robert McChensey, Daniel Ellsberg, Janine Jackson, Chris Hedges, Kristina Borjesson and John Nichols who all share insight on a broken media system.

Shadows of Liberty seeks to provide an outlet for journalists and activists to publish their controversial reports. The film champions the idea of an independent media with accountability and transparency.

After the screening University of Mississippi journalism professor Joseph Atkins will discuss with the audience.

The event is free, and donations to the Shadows of Liberty USA Screening & Media Reform Action Tour are appreciated. For more information on the documentary visit its website and its Facebook page.
