The Lafayette-Oxford-University (LOU) Excel By 5 Coalition will host a Kindergarten Transition Meeting next Tuesday, March 3.
The LOU Excel By 5 Coalition will host a Kindergarten Transition Meeting next Tuesday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at the First Baptist Church in Oxford.
The meeting is for parents with children preparing to enter kindergarten this August. L.O.U. Excel by 5 has a mission to ensure that all children will be prepared to succeed in kindergarten and beyond.
At the gathering the early childhood educators from Oxford and Lafayette community will come together to speak with parents about their children’s readiness to enter kindergarten. Principals from both Lafayette Lower Elementary and Bramlett Elementary and representatives from Regents and Oxford-University School will discuss registration and enrolling a child into the kindergarten program.
Parents will also learn fun learning activities for their children to hone necessary skills needed in kindergarten: counting, reading and writing. These activities will help the child learn without being a chore for both the children and the parents. Parents will also learn how to ensure their children know how to play cooperatively and have self-control.
