Oxford police responded to the following incidents: 15 alarms, 11 suspicious activities, eight disturbances, five welfare concerns, four malicious mischief, four 911 hang up calls, four noise complaints, four animal complaints, three lost properties, two petit larcenies, two grand larcenies, two ambulance assists, two simple assaults, a civil matter, a fire department assist, a careless driver, a scam, a trespassing and a house burglary on St. Andrew’s Circle.
Oxford police investigated nine wrecks, issued 87 traffic citations and made 20 arrests on the following charges: (8) public intoxication; (3) careless driving with DUI; (2) minor in possession of alcohol; a shoplifting; a speeding with no insurance and a DUI; a running a stop sign with DUI, a driving with no car tag; no driver’s license nor car insurance; a driving with one headlight, a suspended driver’s license and no car insurance; a driving with one headlight without a car tag nor a driver’s license; and a driving with a suspended driver’s license without car insurance but with a DUI.
University police responded to the following incidents: 24 vehicle stops, a public drunk at Oxford-University Stadium, a minor in possession of alcohol at Oxford-University Stadium, a possession of alcohol by a minor at Minor Hall, a suspicious vehicle at Manning Center, and a moving violation per speeding without an usable driver’s license on Hathorn Road.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls: an alarm panel reported trouble at Rooster’s but nothing was found; an oven fire that went out before firefighters’ arrival at 122 Tanglewood Drive; duct detectors 6 and 7 malfunction at Alpha Omicron Pi house; a smoke detector malfunction at 1416 Van Buren Avenue, a cancelled call at 802 Birkdale Court, shower steam from Residential Assistant’s apartment activated smoke detector at Crosby Hall; and a grass fire due to throwing hot grill coals on the yard at 906 Muirfield Drive.
