Oxford Crime Report: Friday – Sunday, April 17 – 19
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: 12 alarms, eight suspicious activities, seven disturbances, five welfare concerns, four improper parking, three noise violations, three animal complaints, three lost properties, two careless drivers, two simple assaults, two shopliftings, two harassing phone calls, two fire department assists, a fraud, a grand larceny, an 911 hang up call, an ambulance assist, a littering, a malicious mischief, and a house burglary at The Hub.
Oxford police investigated 16 wrecks, issued 51 traffic citations and made 13 arrests on the following charges: (5) public intoxication; a DUI; a possession of drug paraphernalia with possession of schedule II narcotics; a careless driving with possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle; a driving with no headlights nor car insurance but with a minor in possession of alcohol; a consumption of alcohol in public; a careless driving with possession of drug paraphernalia; a possession of drug paraphernalia; and running a stop sigh with a DUI.
University police responded to the following incidents: 14 vehicle stops, two traffic assists, three disturbances at Kappa Sigma house, a moving offense per DUI (first offense) at the Golf course, a moving violation per passing of school bus on Sorority Row, and accidental property damage at Pittman Hall, a public drunk with a fake ID at Kappa Sigma house, a vehicle accident at Meek Hall, a possession of alcohol in Stewart Hall, an accidental hit and run at Poole Drive, and a suspicious vehicle at The Village Building 130.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following incidents: smoke detector malfunction in the gym at Oxford Intermediate School; a smoke detector activated by a pot left on the stove at Canterbury Crest #116; two duct detector malfunctions at the Rafter’s; a pull station alarm malfunction at University Parking Garage first floor stairwell; a smoke detector activated by cooking at Northgate A107; and a heat detector activated by water leaking onto it at 1200 Jefferson.
