Twelve of the 14 best softball teams are headed for this year’s SEC softball tournament down in Baton Rouge.
The tournament is a single-elimination tournament running from Wednesday through Saturday on the banks of Lake Pontchartrain.
Ole Miss finished the regular season with a 30-24 record and a 6-18 mark inside of conference play. This past weekend, No. 25 Texas A&M swept the Rebels in a three-game series. Ole Miss was selected into the post season conference tournament as the No. 11 seed.
They will take on the No. 6 seed Georgia Bulldogs in game two on Wednesday afternoon with the winner advancing to Thursday to face the No. 3 seeded Alabama Crimson Tide.
Earlier in the season, Georgia swept the Rebels in three games in Oxford. Ole Miss did take the Bulldogs to extra innings in game two before falling to the score of 9-7 in the 9th.
The Florida Gators come into the tournament as the No. 1 seed overall. Auburn is the second seed, Alabama 3rd, LSU 4th, Tennessee 5th, Georgia 6th, Missouri 7th, Texas A&M 8th, South Carolina 9th, Mississippi State 10th, Ole Miss 11th, Kentucky 12th.
Fans can watch all the action of the tournament on the SEC Network as they will carry the first two days of the tournament. Then on Friday ESPNU will cover the games with the championship on Saturday airing on ESPN.
