unnamed-1

Marshall County Sherriff’s Deputy Cody Spoon, who was shot in the arm around 12:30 a.m. Monday near the community of Lamar, is expected to be OK following surgery. However, Memphis news station WREG reports that Spoon will need more surgery later.

Spoon was taken to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis.

He and other Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputies were responding to a domestic violence call on Winding Creek Road southeast of Slayden when the suspect, Mardamiyn Sellers, opened fire with a deer rifle then barricaded himself inside his home for several hours. The standoff ended shortly before 6 a.m.

Sellers has been taken into custody. He will be booked at the Desoto County Jail.
