This morning the unofficial start of the 2015 football season started as the Southeastern Conference Media Days began at the Hyatt Regency Wynfrey Hotel in Hoover, Alabama.
As the new commissioner Greg Sankey addressed the media in attendance, he opened with lyrics from a Bob Dylan song saying, “The times they are a-changin.” He talked about how the league is always moving forward in front of everything.
He also commended University of Mississippi and Mississippi State University for their renewed statements on the Confederate battle flag discussion.
The Auburn Tigers and coach Gus Malzahn followed the commissioner at the podium answering questions from the media in the room. Coach Malzahn announced that the team’s theme this season is “Count on Me,” a motto that started back in the spring.
Other questions were on about the addition of coach Will Muschamp to the coaching staff, in which coach Malzahn answered “He just has that presence around him. He gives all the coaches confidence, he gives his players confidence.” stated on al.com.
Then players entertained questions on how this new season looks for the Tigers in 2015. Florida and Vanderbilt rounded out the first day from Hoover from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Jim McElwain, Johnathan Bullard, Brandon Powell and Vernon Hargreaves III represented the Gators while Derek Mason, Ralph Webb, Nigel Bowden and Spencer Pulley represented the Commodores.
Ole Miss will participate in the SEC Media Day on Thursday morning. Stay tuned!
