2015 Ole Miss Football Preseason Honors
With college football only a week and a half away, most of the preseason awards and honors have been dished out.
Ole Miss, which finished in the top 25 and played in one of the inaugural “New Year’s Six” bowl games a year ago, has a major presence in all of the prognostications that have been released.
Hugh Freeze’s Rebels are a unanimous top-25 selection, predicted as high as 10th by NFL.com and as low as 19th by College Football News. The two major polls, the Amway Coaches Poll and Associated Press Poll, placed Ole Miss at No. 15 and 17, respectively.
Individual Rebels have garnered loads of attention, including preseason first team All-America selections Tony Conner (DB), Evan Engram (TE), Robert Nkemdiche (DL), Laquon Treadwell (WR) and Laremy Tunsil (OL).
In addition to that quintet, Rebels who have received preseason All-SEC recognition include Trae Elston (DB), Will Gleeson (P), Issac Gross (DL), Marquis Haynes (DL), Mike Hilton (DB), C.J. Johnson (LB), Aaron Morris (OL), Denzel Nkemdiche (LB), Markell Pack (PR) and Javon Patterson (OL).
Ole Miss players have appeared on preseason watch list for many of the nation’s top individual awards, such as the Walter Camp Player of the Year, Maxwell Award, Outland Trophy, Rotary Lombardi Award, Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Chuck Bednarik Award, Lott IMPACT Trophy, Butkus Award, Jim Thorpe Award, John Mackey Award, Ray Guy Award and Paul Hornung Award.
Ole Miss opens the season next Saturday, Sept. 5, against UT Martin. Kickoff is 11 a.m. CT from Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
