MHP to Begin Labor Day Enforcement Period Friday Evening

unnamedThe Mississippi Highway Patrol will begin the 2015 Labor Day Enforcement Period on Friday, September 4th at 6 p.m. and conclude Monday, September 7th at midnight.

Due to lower fuel prices and anticipation of heavy traffic, State Troopers will be out in force throughout the holiday period establishing safety checkpoints to promote seatbelt usage and remove impaired drivers from the roadways.

Saturation patrols will also be conducted to combat careless and reckless driving along with speeding and distracted driving issues as well.

MHP investigated 113 crashes including 2 fatalities during the 2014 Labor Day enforcement period. The organization stated that it hopes motorists traveling this weekend will arrive at their destinations safely, along with all of the officers who will be out on the roadways serving and protecting.
