Oxford Crime Report: Tuesday, September 8


Oxford police responded to the following charges: four welfare concerns, three malicious mischief, two civil matters, two careless driving, two motorist assists, two burglaries at Pegues Road and Molly Barr Trails (auto), a disturbance, a petit larceny, an alarm, a scam, a child restraint, credit card fraud, and a 911 hang up call.

Oxford police investigated nine wrecks, issued 12 traffic citations and made three arrests on the following charges:
No headlights
Ran a stop sign with a suspended driver’s license
Warrant served

University police department responded to the following incidents: six vehicle stops, a vehicle accident at Residential College, a petit larceny at Turner Center and a report of a suspicious person at Manning Center.

Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls over the Labor Day weekend.
Friday, September 4
Spilled gas at 7:59 a.m. at Kroger Gas Station
Light ballast smoking at 10:40 a.m. at 101 Courthouse Square First Mortgage
Smoke detector malfunction at 2:59 p.m. at Kappa Alpha Theta house
Saturday, September 5
Smell of gas at 1:17 a.m. at South Depot Taco Shop
Fire alarm at 11:31 a.m. pulled by a child at The Lyric
People stuck in an elevator at 12:46 p.m. at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium
Work on the alarm system at 2:29 p.m. at Kappa Sigma house
Smoke detector at 5:38 p.m. activated by cooking at 802 Old Taylor Road
Sunday, September 6
No calls
Monday, September 7
Water sensor alarm at 4:54 a.m. activated by water main break at Faser
General alarm malfunction at 6:48 a.m. at 715 Mogridge Lane
Stuck elevator at 11:30 a.m. in parking garage at Baptist Memorial Hospital
Fire alarm at 12:03 p.m. pulled by someone at Baptist Memorial Hospital
Report of carbon monoxide at 8:42 p.m. by a resident at at Cambridge Station Building 9 Apartment 905
Smoke detector activated at 11:42 p.m. by a shower steam at The Village Building 112 Apartment 9
Tuesday, September 8
Burned toast at 7:10 a.m. by a coffee shop employee in Anderson Hall
Cancelled call at 10:23 a.m. at 409 Country Club Road
A smell of wires burning at 5:24 p.m. at Lafayette County Detention Center
