Oxford Crime Report: Friday – Sunday, September 25 – 27


Oxford police responded to the following incidents: 15 disturbing the peace, 10 suspicious activities, eight welfare concerns, seven alarms, four lost properties, four careless drivers, three malicious mischief, three improper parking, two motorist assists, two domestic disturbances, two ambulance assists, two animal complaints, two burglaries, a fire department assist, a simple assault and a harassment.

Oxford police investigated 16 wrecks, issued 143 traffic citations and made 72 arrests on the following charges:

(20) Public drunk
(3) Possession of a fake ID with a minor in possession of alcohol
(2) Public drunk with failure to comply
Failure to comply
No headlight and DUI
Possession of fake ID
Careless driving and DUI
Obstructing traffic and DUI
Public drunk, resisting arrest
Out of jurisdiction warrant served
Reckless driving, no insurance and DUI
Speeding, no insurance, no driver’s license
Ran a red light, vehicle for hire sans permit and DUI
Speeding, possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI
Careless driving and minor in possession of alcohol
Possession of drug paraphernalia and warrant served
Seatbelt violation, possession of drug paraphernalia
One headlight, possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI
Public drunk and contributing to the delinquency of a minor
Reckless driving, failure to dim headlight, run stop sign and failure to yield to emergency vehicle
Public drunk, minor in possession, consumption of alcohol in public, resisting arrest and simple assault

University police responded to the following incidents:

Intoxicated person at Phi Kappa Psi house
Possession of alcohol by minor on West Road
Report of smoking violation with a false ID on Fraternity Row
Saturday, September 26

DUI on University Avenue
Petit larceny in the Grove
Vehicle stop on All American Drive
Intoxicated person at Residential College
A report of a fight with discovery of a public drunk, vandalism to vehicle and a possession of alcohol by minor at Residential East Tiers Lot
Sunday, September 27

An alarm testing at 2:01 p.m. at National Food Services
Saturday, September 26
A smell of gas at 4:56 a.m. but no discoveries at 928 C.B. Webb Townhouses No.2
Sunday, September 27
Smoke detector activated at 7:22 p.m. by a person smoking an e-cigarette at Brown Hall
Smoke detector activated at 8:00 p.m. by smoking in the room at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon house
A strange smell in the house at 9:49 p.m. with no discoveries at 1030 Augusta Drive
