The Ole Miss Rebels find themselves among an elite group of major teams that have won eight or more games at this point in the season.

We attempted to analyze these 41 teams as to which ones have the highest number of teams within the elite group on their respective schedule.

Interestingly enough, the Ole Miss Rebels are tied for first with five other teams that have as many as five of the best on their schedule. The other five teams are Memphis, Michigan, Mississippi State, Alabama and Notre Dame.

When you look at this group of 41 as a whole, the average is 2.9 opponents that are on each schedule which are also contained within these eight wins and bowl-bound schools.

The bowls will certainly be looking at this group first because of the number of wins and equally important, the quality of wins. Ole Miss has both! And it is highly likely that our bowl opponent will come from this group as well.

Here are the other 35 that made the list:

  • Texas A&M
  • Washington State
  • BYU
  • Temple
  • Bowling Green
  • Northwestern
  • UCLA
  • Stanford
  • San Diego State
  • Marshall
  • Air Force
  • Northern Illinois
  • University of Southern Mississippi
  • Michigan State
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Oregon
  • Utah
  • Iowa
  • Wisconsin
  • West Kentucky
  • Pittsburgh
  • Navy
  • Toledo
  • Houston
  • Oklahoma
  • Baylor
  • Ohio State
  • TCU
  • Clemson
  • Florida State University
  • UNC
  • Oklahoma
  • State
  • Appalachian State
  • LA Tech

When the critics begin to line up and analyze the season, the aforementioned should be considered first and foremost in forming opinions. When you want to be among the best, you have to play the best and Ole Miss is certainly doing that.

And when you factor in that eight of our opponents this year are bowl-bound (Auburn, LSU and Arkansas not reflected above), this has definitely not only been an amazing season, but a highly successful one as well!
