Ole Miss women’s tennis bolstered its future with the signing of Anna Vrbenska (Podebrady, Czech Republic) to a national letter of intent, head coach Mark Beyers announced last Tuesday.
Vrbenska owns a career-high WTA Ranking of 954 in singles and 789 in doubles. She is also ranked No. 32 in the Czech Republic Women’s Rankings. Vrbenska teamed with sophomore Natalie Suk to win the ITF Doubles title in Austria this past summer. She also reached the semifinals of singles in Egypt.
“Anna is a great player and a hard worker, and I am very excited that she is joining our program,” Beyers said. “I know quite a few of the players that she has played and some of the ones she’s beaten. She is someone that is going to be able to step in right away and play for us next year and play pretty high in the lineup.”
In addition, Vrbenska won two singles titles and reached the finals in doubles in several other tournaments in her home country.
The Rebels concluded the fall earlier this month and will kick off the spring Jan. 17 hosting Jackson State in a doubleheader.
