Alabama could have its second running back commit in this year’s recruiting class, depending on how an official visit goes this weekend.

D’Vaughn Pennamon, a four-star Ole Miss commit from Manvel, Texas, was visited by Nick Saban on Wednesday, and this weekend’s trip could make him rethink his commitment.

“I’m still pretty solid — not 100 percent solid, a pretty decent amount, though,” Pennamon told SEC Country in regards to his commitment status to Ole Miss.

Pennamon said Saban talked with him for 90 minutes at his school, and during that conversation, the five-time national champion told him where he stands on his big board.

“(Saban) said I’m their guy,” Pennamon said. “He loves what I do because I do what they do. He just wanted to stop by to see me before I got up there on the visit.”

This upcoming trip will be Pennamon’s first to Tuscaloosa, so Alabama really needs to show Pennamon a great time for the Crimson Tide to have a chance of flipping the running back’s commitment. Accompanying him on the visit will be his mother and brother.

The nation’s No. 6 running back said what got him thinking most about Alabama is what Saban had to say about his chances of seeing the field.

“The best thing he said to me was I have the opportunity to come in and play early,” Pennamon said. “For me, that’s pretty big. I also like how he told me that they try to develop the players to be as successful as they want to be. He said he likes making sure his players make the right choices every single day.”

Some of the successful players who Pennamon has seen come from Alabama like Derrick Henry, Mark Ingram and Eddie Lacy to name a few has him intrigued about the program as well.

“It’s really nice that you see guys from one certain school go on to be very successful in the league,” he said. “That’s just eye candy. It’s perfect.”

So did the visit from Saban increase Alabama’s odds of flipping the Rebels commit? He paused before answering.

“I’d rather not say.”
