Ole Miss heads down to Starkville today to face Mississippi State Bulldogs in the Humphrey Coliseum. The tip off is scheduled for 1 p.m. on SEC Network.
Ole Miss comes into the game with a 2-4 record in the SEC and 12-6 overall. On Tuesday night, the Rebels lost a heartbreaker in overtime to South Carolina 77-74.
With 24 points against South Carolina, senior guard Stan Moody became the 37th player in Ole Miss history to reach the 1,000-point mark in his career. Moody reached the historic club in just 52 career games and is the tied with Cob Jarvis for the fifth-fastest Rebel to reach the 1,000-point plateau.
The Bulldogs are 7-10 overall, 0-5 in the SEC after falling 81-78 in Gainesville to the Florida Gators Tuesday. Mississippi State has dropped its last five games overall and hasn’t won this calendar year. Four Bulldogs are scoring in double figures this season led by senior F Gavin Ware, who is averaging a team-best 16.4 ppg. Ware also leads MSU pulling down 7.6 boards a game.
Mississippi State leads the league in free throw percentage at .737, but rank dead last in the conference in field goal percentage defense allowing opponents to shoot 44.5 percent from the floor.
The Bulldogs are Ole Miss’ most-played opponent, having met 252 times on the hardwood, which is also the SEC’s most-played rivalry. Mississippi State holds a 141-111 lead in the series, which began in 1914, but the Rebels have won the last four games.
