2016 Recruiting Class Looking Very Strong for Ole Miss

As National Signing Day approaches, the football recruits are beginning to narrow their choices of schools down. Ole Miss is preparing to welcome an excitable class of recruits ready to don the red and blue for the Rebels.

Monday, Ole Miss football head coach Hugh Freeze and his staff garnered commitments from Royce Newman (four star offensive tackle), Tre Nixon (four star wide receiver) and McCarthy Brown (four star punter). They all announced their commitments on Twitter.

Newman, who is a offensive tackle from Illinois, flipped to Ole Miss from Missouri. According to 247 Sports, Newman is rated as the No. 33 offensive tackle in this years signing class.

Nixon tweeted a note in addition to the Ole Miss pictures. This is what the note says: “First of all, I would like to thank god, my family, teammates, coaches, and everyone who has supported me throughout this process. None of this would have been possible without you. This has been one of the toughest decision, but with many thoughts and prayers and support from family and friends I have decided that I will be committing to the University of Mississippi! HOTTY TODDY.”

Nixon comes to Oxford from Melbourne, Florida. Nixon is the No. 36 wide receiver in the nation.

Over the weekend, the Rebels also got a commitment from McCarthy Brown who is a 4-star kicker from the state of Minnesota. He currently holds the state record of a 87-yard punt.

Let’s give them a big Hotty Toddy welcome!
