Oxford Crime Report: Tuesday, February 9
At approximately 3:00 p.m. on February 9, a 911 phone call came through dispatch reporting an unresponsive individual near 1543 South Lamar. Upon the Oxford police’s arrival, EMS determined the subject to be deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gun-shot wound.
At this time Oxford Police Department Investigators are still working on the details of the incident and no further information is available at this time. As more information becomes available the police department will send out an additional release.
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: five disturbances, four alarms, four suspicious activities, two careless drivers, two welfare concerns, two shopliftings, an improper parking, a civil matter, a simple assault, and a fire department assist.
Oxford police investigated one wreck, issued 37 traffic citations and made four arrests on these following charges:
Shoplifting
Speeding and fake ID
No insurance and DUI (wreck)
Speeding, ran a red light and DUI
University police responded to the following incidents: one vehicle stop, two suspicious vehicles at Rebel Drive and Kincannon lot, a warrant served, a petit larceny at George Peabody Hall, an accidental property damage at Stockard Hall, and a service call for an ambulance at Residential College.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following call: a small grease fire at 1:06 p.m. that the vent suppression system put out at the Student Union.
