Oxford Crime Report: Thursday, February 11

Oxford police responded to the following incidents: five alarms, three suspicious activities, three welfare concerns, two noise violations, two identity thefts, two petit larcenies, a false pretense, a motorist assist, a grand larceny, a disturbance, a careless driver, a harassing phone call, and a malicious mischief.

Oxford police investigated eight wrecks, issued 48 traffic citations and made six arrests on the following charges:
(3) Public intoxications
Malicious mischief
Careless driving and DUI
Public intoxication, resisting arrest and fake ID

University police responded to the following incidents: six vehicle stops, two traffic details, and a petit larceny at Turner Center.

Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
Stand-by at 1:03 p.m. due to construction workers hitting a two in gas main on West Jackson Avenue so the fire department stood by until gas could be turned off
Smoke detector malfunction at 3:45 p.m. at Stewart Hall
Small grass fire at 3:52 p.m. at Choctaw Chickasaw area
Heat detector activation at 4:24 p.m. by cooking in the second floor kitchen at Rooster’s
