Oxford Crime Report: Thursday, February 18
Jeremy Coleman – Uttering Forgery
On February 18, Oxford police officers responded to BancorpSouth in reference to a subject on scene attempting to cash a fraudulent check. Officers made contact with Jeremy Coleman (24 of Marks) and found that Coleman had cashed other fraudulent checks over the past several days. Coleman was arrested for Uttering Forgery and was taken before Judge Mickey Avent for his Initial Appearance. Coleman’s bond was set at $5,000.
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: four alarms, four suspicious activities, three scams, two ambulance assists, two malicious mischief, two welfare concerns, two fire department assists, two improper parking, a careless driver, a lost property, a harassing phone call, an animal complaint and a disturbance.
Oxford police investigated seven wrecks, issued 45 traffic citations and made six arrests on the following charges:
(2) Possession of drug paraphernalia
DUI
Obstructing traffic and DUI
Failure to comply and public intoxication
Petit larceny, resisting arrest and public intoxication
University police responded to the following incidents: three vehicle stops, an intoxicated person at Kincannon Hall, a possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia at Kincannon Hall, a report of a suspicious person at Turner Center, a vehicle accident in Kincannon parking lot, and a speeding with no insurance on Intramural Fields Road.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following call: a F150 truck was on fire at 5:00 p.m. on Highway 7 South (just past Popeye’s). The fire department extinguished the fire and left the scene with Oxford police department.
