With ambulance response times in Lafayette County getting a lot of attention recently, a call for additional Emergency Medical Responders (EMRs) may be in order for our area.

EMR

If you have ever considered becoming and EMR, you’re in luck. A new EMR orientation class will be held this Wednesday, February 24, at 6 p.m. at the Lafayette County Fire Department located at 52 County Road 1032 in Oxford.

“Official” classes will begin Monday, February 29 and will continue every Monday and Thursday through April 18.

Cost of the class is $180 and must be paid during orientation on Feb. 24. For those who agree to join the Lafayette County Emergency Medical Service (LCEMS), tuition fees will be paid for those who volunteer in Lafayette County for a six-month period.
