Auditions for Fine Arts scholarships at Northwest Mississippi Community College will be held March 18-19 according to John Mixon, Fine Arts Division director.
Choral scholarship auditions will be held on Friday, March 18 at noon and Saturday, March 19 at 10 a.m. in the Fine Arts Building on the Senatobia campus.
Those auditioning for a choral scholarship need to bring a prepared piece to sing, according to Susanne VanDyke, director of Choral Activities. The audition committee prefers the following repertoire: art songs, folk songs, simple hymns or high school choral music. Please bring sheet music for our accompanist. There will be a brief interview as well as vocalization to determine vocal range.
Ensembles available for audition include Northwest Singers, Chamber Choir and Entertainers.
Northwest’s theatre scholarship auditions will be held on Friday, March 18 at noon or Saturday, March 19 at 10:00am.
Those interested prepare two contrasting one-minute monologues and bring a headshot and resume if available. “If you can sing, be prepared to sing, as the choral auditions are the same day and time. If you are a singer bring sheet music accompaniment with you to the audition. If you are interested in technical theatre, please bring photos of your work if you have them, ” said Sadie Shannon, theatre instructor.
It is a good idea to apply for admission to Northwest, as well as housing before auditioning. Before any scholarship money can be awarded, FAFSA must be completed and sent to Northwest Financial Aid via the website fafsa.org.
