Rebels Host Mississippi State in Hardwood Action
This Wednesday evening, the Ole Miss Rebels return home to the Pavilion to take on in-state rival Mississippi State.
The Rebels will honor seniors Stefan Moody, Thomaz Gielo and Anthony Perez as a part of the Senior Day activities.
Ole Miss enters this final regular season game with a 8-8 mark in conference play and a 18-11 overall record. Last time the Rebels stepped out onto the hardwood they dropped a heartbreaker 80-66 to the Georgia Bulldogs.
Perez led the team in scoring with 19 points and pulling in nine rebounds in the game over in Athens. While his teammates Moody and Gielo recorded 15 and 13 points respectively.
The Bulldogs are 13-15 and 6-10 in the SEC after knocking off South Carolina 68-58 at home Saturday. MSU has won four of its last six SEC games after starting conference play 2-8. Senior forward Gavin Ware leads the team in scoring at 15.6 ppg and rebounding at 7.5 rpg, while freshman G Quinndary Weatherspoon is leading the squad in scoring in SEC play at 14.8 ppg.
Mississippi State ranks 10th in the league in scoring in SEC play at 72.2 ppg and is last in the conference in offense rebounding pulling down just 35.2 boards a game during conference action.
The Bulldogs are Ole Miss’ most-played opponent, having met 253 times on the hardwood which is also the SEC’s most-played rivalry. Mississippi State holds a 142-111 lead in the series.
Tip off for this hardwood matchup is slated for 6 p.m. and will be on the SEC Network. Fans can also listen to the game on the Ole Miss Radio Network.
