Oxford Crime Report: Monday, March 7


Oxford police responded to the following incidents: four alarms, three motorist assists, two suspicious activities, two fire department assists, a noise violation, an animal complaint, a peeping tom at Campus Creek, a scam, a petit larceny, a shoplifting, a malicious mischief, a welfare concern and an ambulance assist.

Oxford police investigated six wrecks, issued 37 traffic citations and made 11 arrests on the following charges:
(3) Public intoxication
Disturbing the peace
No taillights and DUI
Possession of drug paraphernalia
No seatbelt and possession of drug paraphernalia
No headlights, no insurance and no driver’s license
No headlights, possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI
No seatbelt, suspended driver’s license and possession of marijuana with intent
Possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle

University police responded to the following incidents: two vehicle stops, a vehicle accident at the Pavilion Parking Garage, a vehicle accident at Howry Hall, a burglary per unlawful entry at Crosby Hall, and a service call for an ambulance at Kinard Hall.

Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
Smoke detector activation at 8:26 a.m. due to burned food in the kitchen at Alpha Omicron Pi house
General fire alarm toned out at 10:48 a.m. and there were no audible alarms upon arrival at Sigma Pi house
Water heater fire at 1:45 p.m. that went out upon arrival at 728 McLarty Drive, Apartment 4
Grass fire at 4:30 p.m. caused by a resident burning an ex-friend’s shirt in the yard at 226 James Circle
Smoke detector activation at 9:28 p.m. caused by a bug spray at Stewart Hall
