Oxford Crime Report: Friday – Sunday, March 18 – 20
Ronald Mongeon – Burglary, Motor Vehicle Theft
On Thursday, March 17, Oxford police investigators charged Ronald Mongeon, Jr. (41 of Somerville, Tennessee) with one count of Residential Burglary and one count of Motor Vehicle Theft. The Memphis police officers stopped him after a warrant was issued on him for burglary. Oxford police then advised the Memphis police that he is a suspect in taking a vehicle from the Square a few days earlier. The Memphis police officers then checked where Mongeon was staying and found the stolen vehicle parked behind his house, in process of being broken down to be sold. They recovered the vehicle and brought Mongeon back to Oxford. Mongeon’s bond was revoked because he was out on a previous felony bond.
Miranda Hurt – Burglary, Motor Vehicle Theft
On Thursday, March 17, Oxford police investigators charged Miranda Hurt (23 of Oxford) with one count of Residential Burglary and one count of Motor Vehicle Theft. She is in a relationship with Mongeon, and was involved in the burglary and taking of the vehicle from the Square. Hurt was at the residence when the police officers arrived, took her in custody and brought her back to Oxford. Her bond was set at $10,000.
Oxford police department responded to the following incidents: 13 alarms, 11 welfare concerns, six suspicious activities, four disturbances, three fire department assists, three careless drivers, three civil matters, two returns of missing properties, two malicious mischief, two animal complaints, two stalkings, two illegally parked cars, an ambulance assist, a noise violation, a report of a public drunk and a petit larceny.
Oxford police investigated 12 wrecks, issued 53 traffic citations and made 11 arrests on the following charges:

No seatbelt and possession of drug paraphernalia
Careless driving, possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI

Careless driving, no seatbelt, possession of Schedule I narcotics and possession of Schedule II narcotics

Friday, March 18
Wreck with extrication at 4:52 p.m. at University Avenue and Highway 334
Saturday, March 19
Smoking at 7:31 a.m. at Campus Creek Building 3234 Apartment 3 where a resident stepped out and the door locked behind him. He had left a pot on stove and it began smoking, although there was no fire.
Ambulance stand-by at 10:06 a.m. at Oxford Wheel Estates No. 84
People stuck on an elevator at 6:17 p.m. at Baptist Memorial Hospital parking garage
Sunday, March 20
Stove fire at 6:46 p.m. that went out before arrival at Cottoncreek Cove – the fire was caused by a grease build-up around the stove’s eye.
