Deontae Harris – Sexual Battery

On Sunday, March 27, the Oxford police department arrested Deontae Harris (24 of Oxford) for sexual battery. Harris attended a party at a friend’s house on Saturday, March 26. The friend/victim went to bed when at some point Harris entered her room while she was asleep. Once in, Harris had sex with the victim without her consent. Harris then left the house and the victim reported what happened to her roommate. The police were contacted by the victim who was able to identify Harris. He was picked up a few hours later and his bond was set at $5,000.

Oxford police responded to the following incidents: five alarms, four suspicious activities, three ambulance assists, three welfare concerns, two motorist assists, two animal complaints, a disturbance, a fire department assist, a credit card fraud, a 911 hang up call, an auto burglary at Brighton Village and a careless driving.

Oxford police investigated eight wrecks, issued 23 traffic citations and made one arrest on the charges of careless driving, no seatbelt and DUI.

University police responded to the following incidents: seven vehicle stops, a warrant served at Stockard Hall and a suspicious vehicle at Stewart Hall.

Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
Stand by for ambulance at 10:01 a.m. at Oxford Church of Christ – stood by with a patient until an ambulance arrived.
Smoke detector activation at 3:06 p.m. due to bug fogger in room 215 at Townhouse Suites by Marriott
Small grass fire at 6:04 p.m. at West Jackson and Highway 6 area
Smoke detector activation at 9:01 p.m. at Lester Hall
