Oxford Crime Report: Monday, May 23 – Aggravated DUI, Credit Card Fraud
Colby Virtue – Aggravated DUI
On Monday, May 23, 2016, Oxford police investigators charged Colby Virtue (23 of Southern Pines, North Carolina) with Aggravated DUI. On Saturday, May 21, 2016, the police officers responded to a call of a vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lane on U.S. 278. Some of the people in the victim’s car were seriously injured, but their lives were not threatened. The police officers conducted an investigation and determined that Virtue, who did not sustain any significant injuries, was driving under the influence. Virtue’s full charges are Aggravated DUI, No Liability Insurance and Driving on the Wrong Side of the Road. A Lafayette County Justice Court judge set his bond at $2,500.
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: four reported careless drivers, four alarms, four suspicious activities, two motorist assists, two complaints of lost property, two 911 hang up calls, two animal complaints, a welfare concern, a disturbance, a scam, an ID theft, a credit card fraud and a petit larceny.
Oxford police investigated seven wrecks, issued 31 traffic citations and made one arrest for Aggravated DUI, no liability insurance and driving on the wrong side of the road.
University police responded to the following incidents: two vehicle stops and a burglary at Kappa Sigma fraternity house.

Sprinkler malfunction at 2:07 p.m. Hathorne Road
Smoke alarm at 12:47 p.m. Courtyard Marriott on Jackson Avenue West
