Oxford Crime Report: Friday – Sunday, June 17 – 19 – Counterfeit Money, Tire Fire

Oxford police responded to the following incidents: 14 alarms, 12 disturbances, 10 suspicious activities, four ambulance assists, four careless drivers, four animal complaints, four motorist assists, three welfare concerns, two malicious mischief, two fire department assists, two 911 hang up calls, a civil matter, a trespassing, a burglary at the Oxford-Lafayette County Public Library, a credit card fraud, a shoplifting, a counterfeit money, an illegally parked car and a complaint of lost property.

Oxford police investigated nine wrecks, issued 50 traffic citations and made — arrests on the following charges:

Careless driving and DUI
No insurance and DUI (wreck)
Public intoxication and fake ID
Ran stop sign, suspended driver’s license and DUI
Ran stop sign, possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI
No seatbelt, suspended driver’s license and no insurance
Expired tag, no insurance and suspended driver’s license
Speeding, suspended driver’s license, possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI
Trespassing but less than larceny (joyriding), suspended driver’s license and DUI

University police responded to the following incidents:
Friday, June 17

Accidental hit and run on Sorority Row
Disturbing the peace at Turner Center
Service call for an ambulance at Alpha Tau Omega house
Saturday, June 18
Vehicle stop at Jackson Avenue Center
Traffic assist at Turner Center
Report of a suspicious person with discovery of controlled substances at Campus Walk
Sunday, June 19
Vehicle stop at Campus Walk
Larceny at Hefley Hall
Suspicious vehicle at Insight Park

Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
Friday, June 17
Power line arcing at 2:53 p.m. at the Discount Building
Emergency Medical Services crew stuck in an elevator at 2:56 p.m. at Baptist Memorial Hospital
Smoke detector malfunction at 4:42 p.m. at North Ridge Apartments
Tire fire at 4:55 p.m. due to a guy putting gas on a rim to get the tire on the rim at Burney Branch
Saturday, June 18
No reports
Sunday, June 19
Smoke alarm at 12:20 a.m. due to an e-cigarette at the Inn at Ole Miss
Smoke detector activated at 10:11 a.m. by cooking at Canterbury Crest
