Former Rebel Drew Pomeranz will take part in tonight’s Major League Baseball All-Star game on the Fox channel at 7:00 p.m. The game takes place in Petco Park in San Diego, California.

Pomeranz, a Tennessee native, pitched for the Rebels from 2008 to 2010 and was the Friday night starter in the last two years of his career.

Pomeranz struck out 17 in a 2009 regional championship game against Western Kentucky. With the victory over Western Kentucky, the Rebels went to their fourth super regional in five years under Mike Bianco.

Pomeranz was drafted fifth overall in the 2010 MLB Draft by the Cleveland Indians but was traded to the Rockies for Ubaldo Jimenez. Pomeranz spent last season in Oakland before winding up with the Padres this year.

This year, Pomeranz’s numbers are outstanding, as the southpaw has an 8-7 record, but has a 2.47 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP.
