Oxford Crime Report: Wednesday, July 13 – Simple Assault, Burglaries
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: six suspicious activities, three disturbances, three 911 hang up calls, two civil matters, two alarms, two illegally parked cars, a reported DUI driver, a simple assault, a noise violation, a welfare concern, a motorist assist and a burglary on St. George Lane.
Oxford police investigated six wrecks, issued 16 traffic citations and made two arrests on the following charges:
Shoplifting
Ran a stop sign, speeding and DUI
Lafayette Sheriff’s Department responded to the following incidents: five disturbances, four service calls, two suspicious activities, two traffic complaints, two alarms, an accident, a welfare concern, a scam, a civil matter and a residential burglary at County Road 425.
Lafayette Sheriff’s Department made three arrests on the following charges:

Warrant for contempt of court, child support
University police responded to the following incidents: three vehicle stops, larceny of bicycles at Kappa Sigma house, and a report of a petit larceny.
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
Smoke detector activation at 12:52 p.m. by workers sanding sheetrock at Northgate C103
Water flow alarm activation at 3:29 p.m. due to filling the new sprinkler system at the new Oxford Country Clubhouse
Smoke detector malfunction at 7:03 p.m. and 8:33 p.m. at the University of Mississippi Student Health Center
