Oxford Crime Report: Thursday, July 21 – Contempt of Court, Code Violation


Oxford police responded to the following incidents: five suspicious activities, five alarms, two welfare concerns, two 911 hang-up calls, a burglary at Garfield Avenue, a disturbance, a shoplifting, a motorist assist, a petit larceny, a simple assault, a malicious mischief, a fire department assist, a code violation and a lost property.

Oxford police investigated seven wrecks, issued 27 traffic citations and made six arrests on the following charges:
(2) Careless driving and DUI
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Careless driving and possession of drug paraphernalia
Speeding, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of Schedule IV narcotics

Lafayette sheriff’s department responded to the following incidents: six service calls, four disturbances, four transportations, two alarms, two scams, two civil matters, two traffic complaints, a simple assault, an animal complaint, a domestic violence, a petit larceny and a welfare concern.

Lafayette sheriff’s department made three arrests on the following charges:
(2) Warrants for contempt of court
Warrant for trespassing

University police responded to the following incidents: a burglary at Pi Kappa Alpha house, an accidental hit and run at Martindale building, a suspicious vehicle at Intercollegiate Athletics, and a service call for an ambulance at Lester Hall.

Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
Employee stuck on an elevator at 2:35 p.m. at Baptist Memorial Hospital
Smoke detector activation at 3:55 p.m. caused by burned popcorn at Lester Hall
Smoke detector activation at 5:17 p.m. caused by burned food at Canterbury Crest #113
Smoke detector activation at 8:05 p.m. caused by cooking in the kitchen at Oxford Country Club
