Rio: Mississippi’s Jeff Henderson Takes Gold in Long Jump

A former Hinds Community College athlete wins the Gold in Rio.

And for sure it’s a long way from Raymond, Mississippi to Rio. But Team USA’s Jeff Henderson made the jump winning by one centimeter.

His coach at Hinds, Reggie Dillon, says even during his junior college days, Henderson had his sights set on being the best long jumper in the world.

His gold was one of two medals over the weekend in Rio for athletes from Mississippi schools. Former Southern Miss star Tori Bowie won the silver in the 100 meter dash.
