Suspect Arrested For Robbery In Wal-Mart Shopping Center Parking Lot

On Wednesday, August 31, investigators of the Oxford Police Department charged Shameek Thomas (21) of Sardis, Mississippi, with one count of robbery.

On Sunday, August 28, officers of the Oxford Police Department responded to Wal-Mart Super Center for a robbery. The suspect fled the scene in an automobile before the victim made a call to Oxford Police Department. The victim stated that Thomas approached her and asked to use her cellphone. As she was about to hand it to him, Thomas reached and jerked her purse from her and ran. He had a car nearby and fled the scene. During the investigaton it was determined that Thomas was the suspect of the robbery. No weapon was used and no one was injured. Thomas was booked on robbery and his bond was set at $15,000.
