Boat Motor Thief Turns Himself In To Lafayette County Detention Center

On 7/18/17 officers from the Oxford Police Department took a report that a boat motor was stolen from a residence on S. 18th St. The victim stated that the motor was stolen on 7/18/17 between 7:30 a.m. and 2:00 pm.

Investigators began searching regional pawn records and located a similar motor that was pawned, by John W. Perry (51) of Pope MS, in Southaven MS. The pawn shop was contacted and they were able to provide pictures of the motor. Investigators were able to positively identify the motor, as the victims, by several distinguishing characteristics.
An arrest warrant was issued for Perry’s arrest on 7/19/17. Perry turned himself into Investigators on 8/11/17 and was booked at the Lafayette Co. Detention Center. Perry’s bond was set at $2,500.00
