Ole Miss Baseball Set for Annual Pizza Bowl Tonight
The final few days of the fall season for Ole Miss baseball are here, which means pizza and bragging rights are up for grabs in the annual Pizza Bowl. First pitch is set for Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Oxford Middle School.
Different than years past, the 2017 Pizza Bowl will feature a winner take all format in one 12-inning game. The Pizza Bowl is free admission and open to the public, and Ole Miss Athletics will also offer a free live stream on the Rebels’ Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/
Managing this year’s teams are a pair of junior RHP’s in James McArthur and Dallas Woolfolk. McArthur will manage Team Blue and took sophomore Thomas Dillard with his first pick, while Woolfolk won the toss and elected to take the first pick (as opposed to home field advantage), and chose junior Nick Fortes with the first overall pick.
With the change to a one-game format, the rules have been adjusted slightly. Pitchers will be held to a three-inning maximum, and are also allowed to pinch hit and run, but not until the 10th inning. Should the game go to extras, each frame will begin with the bases loaded and one out.
To follow the action on Wednesday, be sure and follow the Rebels on Twitter at @OleMissBSB, tune-in on the Facebook live stream, or attend in person.
