Video: Ole Miss Students Talk Turkey, Travel and Gratitude

Brian Barisa is headed to Texas for the holiday break.
When the last class of the day ends Friday and the football game is wrapped up Saturday, you’ll finally be able to get a parking place on the Ole Miss campus.
The break officially begins Monday, but the mass exodus begins over the next few days, with students and faculty taking advantage of a few days away from the classroom.
For those who are hitting the highway, gas prices look pretty good if you stick to the Southeast, where AAA reports prices are the lowest in the country, averaging $2.27 to $2.40 a gallon. The national average is over $2.50. To find the best prices for your fill-up, check out GasBuddy.com, which shows the cheapest fuel in town right now is at the Chevron on North Lamar.
And before you pack, check the forecast. AccuWeather is reporting that rain may cause travel delays in the South. If you’re headed to the Midwest or Northeast, there may even be some snow in your future. Students seem ready to take whatever happens in stride.
“I am flying home to Dallas for Thanksgiving,” Ole Miss student Brian Barisa said. “It’s Texas, so I’m expecting some dry heat, but it might get a little bit chilly — maybe, maybe some low 60s.”
“At home in Nashville, I expect it to feel the exact same as it does here in Mississippi because it’s the South, and it’s hot this year,” said student Jules Marcantonio, who will make two stops over the break. “And in Cleveland, I expect it to be colder and I cannot wait.”
Regardless of where they are going, most students seem pretty sincere in their gratitude for the holiday.
