The Oxford Police Department charged Keifer Kennedy of Hernando, 20, with domestic violence – aggravated assault Thursday.
At 12:13 a.m., an officer on patrol was flagged down by a witness in the parking lot of the Rebel Bookstore to report a physical disturbance. During the course of the investigation, OPD said it was found that Kennedy had strangled and hit the victim, causing injuries.
The victim was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital to be treated for the injuries. Kennedy was taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center and booked for domestic violence – aggravated assault.
Kennedy was given a bond of $10,000.
