The University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy will host pharmacy showcases across the state this spring to educate aspiring pharmacists about the more than 600 career paths available in the field of pharmacy.
The pharmacy showcase events, sponsored in part by Walgreens Diversity Initiative, are designed to be meet-and-greets with the School of Pharmacy’s dean, faculty, staff and students, as well as with pharmacy practitioners from different areas of practice.
Attendees also can participate in hands-on activities such as compounding lip balm. High school and college students, parents, alumni and counselors are all welcome.
“We are very excited to talk to prospective students and their families across the state about the possibilities of pharmacy and their interest in healthcare,” said David D. Allen, UM pharmacy dean. “Pharmacy is a great career path for students who want to make a real difference in the health of their communities.”
Attendees can choose from three locations:
  • Oxford, The Inn at Ole Miss, 6-8 p.m. March 8
  • Jackson, Mississippi Agriculture and Forestry Museum, 6-8 p.m. April 3
  • Biloxi, Biloxi Yacht Club, 6-8 p.m. April 26

Each browse fair will feature free food for all, as well as free T-shirts for students.
