On the Ballot: Precinct Locations for Oxford and Lafayette

Lafayette County voters are heading to the polls today to vote for a new Chancery Court judge and a new state senator.

The special election will determine who will serve the final two years of a term started by longtime Republican Sen. Thad Cochran, who retired in April. Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith, who was appointed to temporarily succeed Cochran, will be facing Mike Espy, a former congressman and former U.S. Agriculture Secretary.

The local Chancery Court Judge race is between Oxford attorney Lawrence “Larry” Little, and Holly Springs attorney, Sarah J. Liddy.

During the general election on Nov. 6, Lafayette County, Mississippi and many states around the country saw high voter turnout.

As of Monday, about 1,200 people have voted absentee in Lafayette County.

Precincts in Oxford and Lafayette County for today’s election have not changed due to the recent annexation.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Voters must bring a valid form of photo identification such as a driver’s license or a student ID.
